All Star Player Selection

Click here for information about Softball.

Baseball Majors Division:

Players for the All-Star team will be selected from players who have been on a Major's team roster and played in at least 60% of the regular season games played by that team as of June 15.  Teams will consist of 12 players unless a larger number is authorized by the League.  Players will be selected by vote of all Major's managers based upon the following criteria:

    1. the most highly skilled players as evidenced by the players' performance during the season;
    2. availability of the players and his/her families to meet the time commitments and obligations required of All Stars;
    3. any other factors that may, in the managers judgment, reflect upon a candidate's fitness and ability to play on an All Star team.  The objective is to fairly and impartially select the most skilled and competitive team possible for tournament play.

A meeting of managers shall be scheduled by the League generally in early June of each year, and conducted by the President, Executive Vice President Baseball, Majors Division Vice President, and Player Agent.  Each manager may nominate players for consideration and discussion.  The managers shall then submit confidential written ballots for players (except players on his/her own team) and shall also rank their choices (average ranking will be used as a tie-breaker if needed).  The League will conduct the balloting, generally in rounds with discussion between each round, in a manner that preserves the confidentiality of each ballot and best serves the interests of fair and impartial selection.  The League shall compile a list of 16-18 candidates, ordered as elected by the managers.  This list shall be delivered to the All-Star managers, who shall contact each player to determine his/her availability and interest, and develop a list of the top 12 available All-Star candidates.  The remaining players shall be used as replacement players as needed and with approval of the Player Agent, Executive Vice President Baseball and President.

The teams may not be announced, and no practices or games conducted, until allowed by the Official Rules and Regulations of Little League Baseball (usually no earlier than June 15).

Baseball 11-Year-Old Division:
Same process as described for Baseball Majors Division.

Baseball 9-10 Year Old Division:
A try out process may be used as an additional means of providing information about the player's skills and abilities.  The Executive VP of Baseball, VP of Coast, and Player Agent will organize and conduct the try out, if any.  Each Coast manager will be notified by the League as to the number of candidates they can nominate for All-Star consideration and participation in the try out process.  All managers or their League approved alternate will attend the try out as observers.   The manager's role is to observe and assess the player's skills and abilities using their own criteria, and to consider this information as part of the selection process.
The actual vote/selection of All-Stars will follow the same process as described for Baseball Majors Division except the teams shall be selected by the Coast division managers, and the Coast Division Vice President shall attend the selection meeting.

MANAGER AND COACH SELECTION

Baseball Majors Division:
After the All Star player selection meeting, a manager will be selected by vote, with the League President, the Executive Vice President Baseball, and Vice President Baseball Major Division ("The All-Star Committee") each getting one vote.  The Baseball Player Agent will cast one vote in the event of a tie or if one of the above parties elects not to participate in the voting process.  Interested manager and coach candidates must notify the Executive Vice President Baseball, who will develop a list of eligible candidates.
Each manager will then nominate 2 coaches from rostered Major Division managers and coaches. Using the voting process above, The All-Star Committee must approve the nominees.  Following selection by the League President and Vice Presidents, the League Board will then vote to approve or disapprove the selections.  In the event that the League Board disapproves the nominations, the League President and vice presidents shall identify alternative candidates for League Board approval.

Baseball 11-Year-Old Division:

Same process as described for Baseball Major League.

Baseball 9-10 Year Old Division:
Same process as described above except the Vice President of the Coast division shall serve on the All Star Committee (instead of the Majors VP).  All rostered Majors and Coast managers and coaches are eligible to serve as 9-10 division manager or coach.
