Volunteer Background Checks
As a prudent policy, the Issaquah Little League has for several years required all volunteers who have regular contact with players including managers, coaches and umpires to complete a volunteer application's form which authorizes a background check by the Washington State Patrol.
The primary purpose of these checks is to determine if the potential volunteer is a known child-sex offender or has any other record or criminal history. While it is true that incidents of sexual abuse by a Little League volunteer against a Little Leaguer anywhere in the country have been extremely rare, we are dedicated to work together to eliminate the potential for any sex offender to participate in any official capacity in our local Little League program.
